How the day runs
Paris eats late — eight is early, nine is normal — and no one hurries you from the table. Parisians dress simply but with intent, understated rather than dressed up. A day here is mostly walking: a market in the morning, lunch on a terrace, the river in the afternoon light.
Getting around
The Métro runs until around one in the morning, later on Friday and Saturday nights. Much of central Paris is better on foot than underground, and the walk along the Seine is often the best part of the day. Family in the suburbs is usually a short RER ride away.

Late spring and September to October are the best times — mild weather and a full city. In August many Parisians leave, and plenty of neighbourhood places close. Christmas and the New Year are family time, and the weeks before are full of lights and markets.
