The honest version

Your friends will likely ask how you met. "Through a friend" or "we met in town" is enough; if you prefer, tell close friends the truth. It is your day and your story.

Is it better to just go alone?

Often, yes. A rental day is for when going alone would spoil a day you want to enjoy.

Can she join a two-day friends' trip?

Each day is its own booking, and nothing is overnight; she goes home between the days.

What if my friends recognise it is a booking?

Introduced simply as a friend, there is little to recognise. If asked directly, the truth is yours to tell.
